This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with BP Chemicals.
The University of Manchester and BP Chemicals are looking to recruit a KTP Associate in Process Analytical Spectroscopy to undertake this 24-month project which has an overall aim of developing, embedding and exploiting novel Raman spectroscopy techniques for advanced on-line analysis of process streams in the chemicals and refining sectors.
The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to develop a novel instrument that can be used directly in an industrial environment. Additionally, there will be an extensive training and development programme.
Candidates should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or related discipline. Expertise in the development and application of optical instrumentation is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and be able to work effectively alongside academic and industrial partners so excellent communication and organisation skills are also required.
This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.
Based at BP Chemicals at Saltend, Hull, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and BP Chemicals and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
