The Center for transgenic models (CTM) Basel is committed to supporting Uni Basel scientists by providing them the latest mouse transgenic and assisted reproduction technologies. Our service platform offers a wide range of technologies from pronuclear microinjection to genome engineering using Cas9/CRISPR systems. The lab also develops novel gene delivery techniques while at the same time implementing the 3R principles for responsible animal experimentation.
The successful candidate will work on the design, generation and quality control of new transgenic mouse lines. The main responsibilities will include generation of CRISPR/Cas9 regents, mouse genotyping and mouse colony management.
The ideal candidate is well organized with a strong eye for detail and has the ability to work independently but also integrate well as a team member. A commitment for learning new techniques and staying at the forefront of current genome engineering knowledge is highly appreciated.
Candidates should have relevant laboratory qualifications and hands-on experience with relevant molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience in CRISPR/Cas9 technologies and certified (FELASA-1 or equivalent) hands-on experience in mouse handling and experimentation are an advantage. Excellent organizational skills, good communication in English and German as well as skills with common office applications will be required.
